To be born and reared in an historical town surrounded by mountains and

forests gives a person many opportunities for various games, relaxation,

freedom to act and create according to one´s own ideas. As children we

spent time outside in every season. We built bunkers, climbed trees, made

bows and arrows, swam in rivers.

In the summer, and during the holidays we spent time in the village with

our grandparents. We often went to the forest to collect mushrooms,

blackberries, raspberries and various herbs. I remember how once grandpa

my brother and I went to the forest to collect birch rods - grandpa used

them to make brooms. When we found wild strawberries in a meadow I

looked at him and said we can´t take them home, because we don´t have

a bowl. I was very sad. He told me yes we can, you will see. In a few

minutes he made a small vessel with a handle from the birch bark.And then something wonderful happened in me. My limits of perception

shifted. I was completely blown away by the creativity and skill with which

he performed this miracle. Total magic to my young mind! At the time I

didn´t understand what it meant to create a relationship with something

living and then to bring it to another level.

Grandpa was also a blacksmith, so I acquired my close affinity with

horses thanks to him. He showed me and taught me many things,

including consideration for nature, people, animals, all living things, respect

for values and traditions. I am forever grateful to him for awakening in me

the power to create and the understanding that freedom is the key to art.

In time, a good wind finally blew me to Ireland. The necessity to create

was nurtured in my youth, that necessity is still firmly in my soul. I have

the courage to experiment doing things differently. I believe in the power

of nature, art and design. I believe that creativity and beauty is in each of

us, the easiest way to maintain a connection with each other is to

appreciate beauty together, wherever we are. There is an inherent deep

and ancient relationship between people and art.

From this belief I created my dream - Black Stable studio – built within the

walls of an historical building, where the stables used to be.

Art and creativity offers one boundless energy and opportunity to expand

as far as your imagination allows. Art is a personal thing. Let your

imagination flow.
